Our Story
Two Decades of Purpose-Driven Work
Founded in 2003, Allied Movement for Justice and Development (AMJAD) is a registered non-profit organisation working across the United States of America and Sierra Leone.
We are committed to improving the lives of vulnerable individuals and underserved communities by tackling the systemic challenges that perpetuate poverty and inequality.
Through our integrated programs in poverty alleviation, education, vocational skills training, and agribusiness development interventions, we collaborate with communities to develop innovative, people-centred solutions that create sustainable opportunities, strengthen livelihoods, and empower people to build better futures for themselves and their communities.
Our Mission
Empowering People. Transforming Communities.
Our mission is to empower vulnerable individuals and underserved communities through equitable access to quality education, accessible healthcare, and sustainable economic opportunities. Through fostering social change interventions, cultivating inclusive partnerships, and community-driven initiatives, we nurture leadership, strengthen resilience, and uphold values that enable individuals to become catalysts for transformative justice and sustainable development for all.
Our Vision
A World Where Everyone Can Thrive
To create inclusive and sustainable communities where every individual, regardless of background or circumstance, has the opportunity to thrive with equitable access to quality education, healthcare, economic opportunities, and justice — cultivating empowered, resilient, and sustainable societies grounded in dignity, inclusion, and hope for future generations.
Our Core Values
The Principles That Guide Us
Justice
We advocate for the rights and dignity of every person, working to dismantle systemic barriers that prevent communities from thriving and accessing the opportunities they deserve.
Empowerment
We equip individuals with the knowledge, skills, and resources they need to build self-sufficient, resilient lives and become agents of change in their own communities.
Inclusion
We believe every person, regardless of background or circumstance, deserves a seat at the table. Our programs are designed to reach the most marginalised and overlooked.
Integrity
We operate with transparency, accountability, and honesty — honoring the trust placed in us by our donors, partners, and the communities we serve.
Collaboration
We build meaningful partnerships with communities, governments, and organisations, recognising that lasting change is achieved together, not in isolation.
Sustainability
We design programs that create lasting impact — building local capacity, fostering ownership, and ensuring communities can sustain progress long after our direct involvement.
Our Approach
People-Centred. Community-Driven. Results-Focused.
At AMJAD, we believe that sustainable change begins with the people most affected by the challenges we seek to address. Our approach is rooted in deep community engagement, evidence-based programming, and a commitment to long-term impact.
Community-Led Design
We work alongside communities — not for them — co-designing programs that reflect local needs, priorities, and strengths.
Integrated Programming
Our programs address interconnected challenges simultaneously: education, health, economic opportunity, and advocacy working in concert for holistic impact.
Inclusive Partnerships
We cultivate partnerships with local organisations, governments, diaspora networks, and international bodies to amplify reach and deepen impact.
Capacity Building
We invest in local leadership and institutional capacity so that communities can sustain and scale progress independently over time.
Where We Work
Bridging Two Nations, One Mission
United States
Our US operations support diaspora communities, advocacy efforts, resource mobilisation, and partnerships that strengthen our global mission.
Sierra Leone
Our Sierra Leone programs deliver direct services in education, healthcare, agriculture, vocational training, and community development to underserved populations.
